Origin Story

战国时期,著名厨师庖丁为梁惠王宰牛,他技艺高超,刀锋在牛的骨骼间游走自如,毫无阻碍,动作轻盈流畅,如同舞蹈一般。梁惠王看得目瞪口呆,赞叹不已。庖丁解释说,他宰牛已经十九年了,对牛的肌肉骨骼结构了如指掌,所以才能做到游刃有余。

During the Warring States period, a famous chef, Pao Ding, butchered an ox for King Liang Hui. His skill was so high that the blade moved freely between the bones of the ox, without any obstruction, the movements were light and smooth, like a dance. King Liang was stunned and praised him endlessly. Pao Ding explained that he had been butchering oxen for 19 years and knew the structure of the muscles and bones of the ox like the back of his hand, so he could do it with ease.
