During the Tang Dynasty, the border was in danger, and the enemy's forces were approaching menacingly. A border guard named General Li, who should have been training soldiers and strengthening defenses day and night, was instead addicted to alcohol and pleasure, neglecting his duty. He spent his days drinking and feasting with his subordinates, neglecting military affairs and making perfunctory investigations into enemy intelligence. One day, the enemy launched a surprise attack, General Li was caught off guard, resulting in the loss of the border and suffering for the people. In the end, General Li was held accountable by the court for neglecting his duty. This story warns later generations to always fulfill their duties conscientiously and without the slightest negligence.
