To put on a par
Explanation
To discuss or treat different people or things together; it means that the two cannot be compared.
Origin Story
In the Tang Dynasty, there were two talented poets, one named Li Bai and the other named Du Fu. Li Bai was unrestrained and his poems were elegant and unrestrained; Du Fu was melancholy and his poems were profound and impressive. Both contributed enormously to the literary glory of the Tang Dynasty, but their poetic styles differed greatly. Some compared their poems and thought that Li Bai's poems were better, while others said that Du Fu's poems were more profound. Actually, both poems had their own unique charm and characteristics and simply could not be compared. Just as a freehand ink-wash landscape painting and a detailed fine-brushwork flower-and-bird painting are both works of art, their methods of expression and aesthetic tastes are very different, and there is no superior or inferior position. Instead of forcing a comparison, one should appreciate their differences and experience the unique charm they each bring.
