Explanation
To dominate in a certain area by wielding power and influence, or to arrogantly consider oneself the leader.
Origin Story
During the Warring States period in ancient China, numerous states contended for dominance, each aspiring to become the ultimate ruler of the land. The state of Qin, after implementing the reforms of Shang Yang, grew increasingly powerful and eventually unified the six other states, ending the era of continuous warfare. However, the tyrannical rule of Emperor Qin Shi Huang ignited popular rebellion, and the Qin dynasty fell after just two generations. This historical episode serves as a cautionary tale, underscoring the transient nature of power and dominance. No matter how mighty a force may be, it will ultimately be judged by history. Only by adapting to the changing tides of time can lasting stability and prosperity be achieved.
