It is said that when Tang Sanzang and his disciples were traveling west to get scriptures, they passed through a desolate valley. Dark clouds hung overhead, and the wind howled. The valley was gloomy and terrifying. Wukong was cautious, but he was still swept by a sudden gust of wind to the edge of a cliff. He was in danger and tightly grasped a rock at the edge of the cliff. Sha Seng's face was pale with fright, trembling all over, he was terrified, and shouted: “Master! Be careful!” Bajie hid behind Tang Sanzang, shivering and unable to make a sound. Though Tang Sanzang was also scared, he chanted scriptures and managed to remain calm, but he was also frightened at heart. After numerous hardships, the four disciples finally reached the Western Heaven and obtained the scriptures.
