He had spent his whole life studying strange things, and the castle was filled with all kinds of strange bottles and jars, emitting a pungent smell. One night, a storm raged, with lightning and thunder, and suddenly the power went out in the old man's castle. The old man was alone in the castle, and the darkness, noise, and ever-present chill made him terrified and his cold sweat flowed. He hugged the candle in his arms tightly, shivering in the dark, afraid that something terrible might suddenly appear.
