During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the famous doctor Bian Que was known for his superb medical skills and expertise in various difficult and complicated diseases. Once, he heard that the crown prince of Qi had suddenly died from a serious illness and immediately went to treat him. Facing the prince's cold body, Bian Que calmly observed his face and breathing, judging that the prince was only in a state of apparent death, not actually dead. Therefore, he had his attendants fetch acupuncture tools, and performed acupuncture on the prince. After a careful procedure, the prince finally opened his eyes and resumed breathing. Bian Que then prescribed medicine for the prince and carefully looked after him, eventually restoring the prince to full health. This incident caused a huge sensation at the time, and Bian Que's skill in bringing people back from the dead became famous throughout the land.
