Origin Story
During the Northern Song Dynasty, Liangshan hero Song Jiang coincidentally saved Yan Po-xi and her mother. In gratitude, Yan Po-xi promised her daughter to Song Jiang. However, Song Jiang didn't like Yan Po-xi, but she had a secret affair with Zhang San, an accomplice of Song Jiang's. When Yan Po-xi learned that Song Jiang was connected to Chao Gai of Liangshan, she blackmailed him, demanding 100 taels of gold. Seeing that Yan Po-xi was insistent and wouldn't back down, Song Jiang, in desperation, killed Yan Po-xi to protect himself and Liangshan's secret, and then fled to Liangshan. This is a typical example of being "forced", as Song Jiang didn't intend to kill Yan Po-xi, but was left with no other choice than to commit this act in self-preservation and to protect his secret.
