Birds are gone, the bow is hidden
Explanation
A metaphor for abandoning those who once contributed after success.
Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Yue Wang Goujian, through diligent work, eventually defeated Wu. However, after achieving success and fame, he became suspicious of Fan Li and Wen Zhong, the officials who had once helped him. Fan Li saw through Goujian's true nature and retired in time, while Wen Zhong lacked foresight and was eventually killed by Goujian. This story embodies the meaning of "birds are gone, the bow is hidden" and cautions people to be vigilant, to know how to withdraw in time, and avoid becoming victims of success.
