Xīnnián hǎo！Tīngshuō nǐmen zhèr yǒu qífú qūxié de xísú？
Happy New Year! I heard you have a custom here to pray for blessings and ward off evil?
B
是啊，我们这里过年的时候都会去寺庙祈福，保佑来年平安健康。
Shì a，wǒmen zhèli gùonián de shíhòu dōu huì qù sìmiào qífú，bǎoyòu lái nián píng'ān jiànkāng。
Yes, we go to the temple to pray for peace and health in the new year.

那真是很有意义的传统。你们通常是怎么祈福的呢？
Nà zhēnshi yǒu yìyì de chuántǒng。Nǐmen tōngcháng shì zěnme qífú de ne？
That's a very meaningful tradition. How do you usually pray for blessings?

我们会点香，拜佛，然后在许愿牌上写下自己的愿望。
Wǒmen huì diǎn xiāng，bài fó，ránhòu zài xǔyuàn pái shàng xiě xià zìjǐ de yuànwàng。
We light incense, worship Buddha, and write our wishes on a wishing board.

许愿牌？那和我们国家的写许愿卡有点像呢！
Xǔyuàn pái？Nà hé wǒmen guójiā de xiě xǔyuàn kǎ yǒudiǎn xiàng ne！
Wishing board? That's similar to our New Year's cards!

对，都差不多，都是表达自己对未来的美好祝愿。
Duì，dōu chàbuduō，dōu shì biǎodá zìjǐ duì wèilái de měihǎo zhùyuàn。
Yes, it's similar, both are expressions of good wishes for the future.

那驱邪呢？你们是怎么做的？
Nà qūxié ne？Nǐmen shì zěnme zuò de？
And how do you ward off evil?
B
我们会放鞭炮，认为可以驱除不好的东西。还会贴一些门神，辟邪保平安。
Wǒmen huì fàng biānpào，rènwéi kěyǐ qūchú bù hǎo de dōngxi。Hái huì tiē yīxiē mén shén，bìxié bǎo píng'ān。
We set off firecrackers, believing it can drive away bad things. We also paste door gods to ward off evil and ensure safety and peace.

Tīng qǐlái hěn yǒuqù，yǒu jīhuì wǒ yě xiǎng qù tǐyàn yīxià。
