Gone forever
Explanation
Describes something past that is irretrievably lost and will never return.
Origin Story
In 227 BC, Prince Dan of Yan sent Jing Ke to assassinate the King of Qin. Before his departure, Jing Ke sang a song of courage: "The wind howls, the water of Yi is cold, a brave man goes, never to return!" In the song, Jing Ke resolutely set out on his path of no return. Although his heroic undertaking failed, his spirit of sacrificing his life for righteousness forever remains inscribed on the historical monument. Jing Ke's departure, like a river flowing into the sea, never returns; his determination and courage have become role models for countless noble men and women throughout the ages. Therefore, this poem has become an eternal masterpiece, expressing the heroic sentiments of self-sacrifice and devotion to righteousness.
