东郭先生 Mr. Dongguo

Origin Story
春秋时期，晋国大夫赵简子在中山举行狩猎，遇到一只狼就拼命追赶。狼逃窜到一个山洞里，发现里面躲藏着一个人，这个人就是东郭先生。狼哀求东郭先生说：“先生能借你的口袋让我苟延残喘躲一会，躲过这场灾难，我会报答你的大恩的。”东郭先生心地善良，不顾同伴的劝阻，把狼藏进了他的布口袋里。结果狼逃过一劫后，跳出布袋，反过来咬死了东郭先生。这个故事告诫人们要明辨是非，不要对坏人轻易心慈手软。
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Zhao Jianzi, a minister of the Jin state, was hunting in Zhongshan when he encountered a wolf and chased it relentlessly. The wolf fled into a cave, discovering a man named Mr. Dongguo hiding there. The wolf pleaded with Mr. Dongguo, "Sir, could you let me hide in your bag to escape this disaster? I will repay your great kindness." Mr. Dongguo, kind-hearted, ignored his companions’ warnings and hid the wolf in his cloth bag. Once safe, the wolf jumped out and killed Mr. Dongguo. This story cautions against blindly trusting others and failing to discern good from evil.
Usage
通常用来比喻那些不辨善恶，对坏人过于慈悲而给自己带来灾祸的人。
It is generally used to describe those who cannot distinguish between good and evil, are too compassionate to bad people, and bring disaster upon themselves.
