During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the governor of Yuyang, Peng Chong, dissatisfied with the lack of reward from the court, refused to pay taxes to the governor of Youzhou, Zhu Fu, and even raised troops against him. Zhu Fu warned Peng Chong not to do anything that would "cause pain to his own and joy to his enemies," as this would only harm his own interests and strengthen the enemy's power. Peng Chong ignored the warning and was eventually defeated and killed, confirming Zhu Fu's prediction. This story warns people to weigh the pros and cons when dealing with things and to avoid doing things that harm others and benefit themselves due to momentary impulse.
