Origin Story
During the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, there was a loyal minister named Wei Zheng, who always spoke frankly to the emperor, even daring to point out his shortcomings and inadequacies. Once, Emperor Taizong asked Wei Zheng, "How do you rate my ability to govern the country?" Wei Zheng said without fear, "Your Majesty, you are diligent in governing, and your achievements are remarkable. However, governing a country is a great responsibility and a long journey; there is still a long way to go, and you need to keep making efforts." Emperor Taizong did not get angry but instead pondered deeply and worked even harder to govern the country. He understood that Wei Zheng’s words were not groundless but reflected the long-term consideration for the country’s future development. From then on, Emperor Taizong listened to advice more humbly and ultimately achieved great success in his reign.
