From a young age, Li Shizhen had a deep interest in medicine. He studied diligently, reading numerous medical books and texts, and often ventured into the mountains to collect herbs and conduct his own experiments. Through hard work and relentless accumulation of experience, he ultimately completed the monumental pharmacological work, the “Compendium of Materia Medica”. This book not only summarized the achievements of his predecessors in medicine but also added many of his own discoveries, making a tremendous contribution to the development of medicine in later generations; he had indeed achieved great things.
