“孤注一掷”指把所有赌注都押在一次,比喻在危急关头用尽所有力量作最后一次冒险。

"Go for broke" means to bet all your chips on one roll, figuratively speaking, to use all your strength for one last attempt in a critical situation.

Origin Story

传说汉代有一个名叫刘毅的人,家境贫寒,他决心通过赌博改变命运,于是将家中所有值钱的东西都拿去赌博。他把所有家当都押在了一次赌博上,如果赢了,就可以翻身富贵,如果输了,就将一贫如洗。刘毅最终赢了,获得了巨额财富。后来,刘毅凭借着这笔财富,最终成就了一番事业。

Legend has it that in the Han Dynasty, there was a man named Liu Yi who was poor. He was determined to change his fate by gambling, so he took all the valuable things from his home to gamble. He bet everything on one roll, and if he won, he would become rich; if he lost, he would be penniless. Liu Yi eventually won and obtained a huge fortune. Later, Liu Yi, with this fortune, finally achieved success.

“孤注一掷”常用于形容在危急关头,为了达成目标,将全部力量投入,做最后的拼搏。
