战国时期,齐国临淄城繁华富庶,人烟稠密。一次,著名策士苏秦游说齐王联合六国抗秦。他向齐王描述临淄城的盛况:‘临淄居民众多,家家户户人丁兴旺,若人人皆出兵,则可组建一支强大的军队。临淄城中人流如织,举袖成幕,挥汗成雨,如此国力雄厚,何须惧怕秦国?’
During the Warring States period, Linzi city in Qi state was prosperous and wealthy, with a dense population. Once, the famous strategist Su Qin persuaded the King of Qi to unite the six states against Qin. He described the prosperity of Linzi city to the King of Qi: 'The residents of Linzi are numerous, every household has many people, if everyone goes to war, a strong army can be formed. In Linzi city, the flow of people is like weaving, raising sleeves into curtains, sweating like rain, with such a strong national strength, why should we be afraid of Qin?'
