无所用心 without application of heart
Explanation
Refers to someone who does not think carefully and does not care about anything.
Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Yan Ying, an official of the State of Qi, once said to Duke Jing of Qi: "If a person only eats and does nothing all day, he is like cooked rice, bland and lifeless, even if he looks bright on the outside, he is actually worthless." Yan Ying also gave several examples to illustrate that lack of ambition leads to a loss of ambition and ultimately leads to nothing. He warned Duke Jing of Qi that only by diligent thinking and proactive efforts can one achieve something.
