Origin Story
It is said that during the Tang Dynasty, there was a poet named Li Bai who lived a free and unrestrained life and created many immortal masterpieces. However, as time went by, Li Bai gradually entered old age. One day, he was sitting alone at the bow of a boat, watching the sunset slowly setting in the west, the river sparkling. His heart was filled with emotion, he recalled his life, his glories, his frustrations, his dreams, his regrets. He realized that his life, like the setting sun, was about to come to an end. He softly recited a poem he had written: “The sun sets in the west, man grows old, where shall I watch the river flow tomorrow?” This poem expresses his helplessness in the face of the passage of time and his feelings about the impermanence of life. Thereafter, Li Bai continued to create, but his poems were less passionate and more serene and calm of his old age. He finally passed away peacefully, leaving behind many immortal poems.
