From beginning to end
Explanation
To refer to someone who perseveres from beginning to end.
Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn Period, a student named Zilu asked Confucius how to behave and work. Confucius said: "In everything you do, you must see it through from beginning to end, just like planting crops. You must first sow the seeds, then carefully cultivate them, and only then can you harvest the fruits. If you give up halfway, you will get nothing. Zilu was deeply moved, and he followed his teacher's teachings. No matter what he did, he was always conscientious and never gave up halfway. Once, he wanted to build a new house. He did it himself, from selecting materials to planning to construction. He treated every step seriously and worked day and night until he finally built a beautiful and solid new house. His friends admired him greatly and said that he always completed his work from beginning to end and was a trustworthy person. Zilu smiled and said: 'This is all my teacher taught me.' Later, Zilu also made great progress in his career, all because he always saw things through from beginning to end and never gave up easily. His deeds were passed down by later generations and became a model for people's conduct.
