Origin Story
战国时期，孟子从遥远的鲁国来到梁国，拜见梁惠王。梁惠王看到孟子不远千里而来，便问他是否能为梁国带来什么好处。孟子回答说，治国之道在于仁义，而非仅仅追求利益。他用自己不远千里而来的例子，说明了即使路途遥远，为了追求正确的理念，也是值得的。这体现了孟子的政治理想和高尚品德，也让后人深刻理解了“不远千里”的含义：不仅是地理距离上的遥远，更是为了理想而付出的不懈努力，一种坚定信念和执着追求的体现。
During the Warring States period, Mencius traveled from distant Lu to Liang to meet King Hui of Liang. King Hui, seeing Mencius’s long journey, asked if he could bring any benefits to Liang. Mencius replied that the way of governing a country lies in righteousness and justice, not merely in pursuing profit. He used his own long journey as an example, to show that even a long journey is worthwhile in order to pursue the correct principles. This reflects Mencius' political ideals and high moral character, and allows later generations to understand the meaning of “not far from a thousand li”: It is not only a long geographical distance, but also the tireless efforts made for ideals, a reflection of firm conviction and persistent pursuit.
Usage
