Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn period, the ruler of Lu, Lu Dinggong, was controlled by three high-ranking officials and had become a puppet. He heard of Confucius' teachings that emphasized the order between ruler and subject and summoned him in the middle of the night. Confucius knew that Lu Dinggong had only called him in a critical situation and felt a great sense of responsibility. He analyzed Lu's internal and external problems, advised Lu Dinggong to ally with Qi to restore his authority, and developed a series of measures to help Lu through the crisis. Confucius' commitment in this critical situation shows his high patriotism and strong sense of social responsibility.
