Origin Story

Chunqiu shiqi, Kongzi shou le xuduo xuesheng, qizhong Yan Hui zuowei youxiu. Yan Hui qinfen hao xue, dui Kongzi shifen jingyang, wulun Kongzi zuo shenme, ta dou momodi di gensui, yiju yidong dou momang Kongzi. Kongzi de zhe juhua houlai yanbian cheng chengyu "yibush yiqu", yong lai biyu quefa zhujian, yiwei momang taren.

During the Spring and Autumn period, Confucius had many students, among whom Yan Hui was the most outstanding. Yan Hui was diligent and respectful to Confucius. No matter what Confucius did, he silently followed, imitating every move. Once, Yan Hui said to Confucius, "Teacher, wherever you go, I go; however fast you run, I run. When you run quickly, I am far behind you." This quote from Confucius later became the idiom "Yi Bu Yi Qu", which means to lack one's own opinion and simply imitate others.
