Origin Story
话说当年，秦穆公为了争夺霸主地位，与晋国发生多次战争，双方损失惨重。其中，秦穆公对晋国三位大臣：里克、先轸、栾枝恨之入骨，因为这三人屡次在战场上挫败秦军，使得秦穆公的霸业屡受阻碍。秦穆公发誓要报仇雪恨，最终，他运用计谋，各个击破，将这三位大臣一一铲除，终于解除了心头之恨。秦穆公的这种刻骨铭心的仇恨，正是“恨之入骨”最好的诠释。
It is said that in the past, Qin Mugong, in order to compete for the hegemony, fought several wars with Jin, causing heavy losses on both sides. Among them, Qin Mugong hated three ministers of Jin: Li Ke, Xian Zhen, and Luan Zhi, because these three ministers repeatedly defeated the Qin army in the battlefields, which constantly hindered the hegemony of Qin Mugong. Qin Mugong vowed revenge and finally eliminated these three ministers one by one through tactics, thus getting rid of the hatred in his heart. Qin Mugong's deep hatred is the best interpretation of “hen zhi ru gu”.
