During the Warring States period, Prince Dan of Yan sent Jing Ke to assassinate King Qin. At the farewell ceremony at Yi Shui, Jing Ke sang a song: "The wind howls, the Yi Shui is cold, a brave man goes and does not return!" The song was impassioned and moving, expressing his determination to sacrifice his life for a just cause. Prince Dan and those who saw him off all wept, the atmosphere was tragic but admirable. Jing Ke's heroic deed and impassioned song have been passed down through the ages and have become a symbol of the heroic spirit of the Chinese nation.
