春秋时期,齐国宰相晏婴出游,他的车夫衣着华丽,神态傲慢,意气风发,扬扬自得。晏婴看见车夫如此得意,便劝诫他不要过于骄傲自满,要时刻保持谦逊谨慎的态度。车夫的妻子也劝他不要骄傲自满,要记住自己只是一个车夫,要踏踏实实地做好自己的本职工作。车夫听从了晏婴和妻子的劝告,之后做事更加谨慎小心,深得晏婴赏识。
During the Spring and Autumn period, Yan Ying, the prime minister of Qi, was traveling. His charioteer was dressed in fine clothes, and his demeanor was arrogant and self-satisfied. Seeing his charioteer's self-satisfied manner, Yan Ying admonished him not to be too proud and complacent, but to maintain a humble and cautious attitude at all times. The charioteer's wife also advised him not to be arrogant and complacent, reminding him that he was only a charioteer and should diligently perform his duties. Following Yan Ying and his wife’s advice, the charioteer became more cautious and careful in his work, gaining Yan Ying’s appreciation.
