Origin Story
从前，有个愚蠢的小偷，想偷村长家的大钟。他搬不动，就用锤子砸碎它。但是，大钟碎裂的声音很大，他怕别人听到，于是捂住耳朵，心想：这样别人就听不见了。结果，他不仅没有偷到钟，还因为巨大的声响惊动了村民，被当场抓住。
Once upon a time, there was a foolish thief who wanted to steal the big bell from the village chief's house. He couldn't move it, so he smashed it with a hammer. However, the sound of the broken bell was very loud, and he was afraid that others would hear it, so he covered his ears, thinking: This way, others won't hear it. In the end, not only did he not steal the bell, but the loud noise also alarmed the villagers, and he was caught on the spot.

用以形容那些明明知道事情掩盖不住，却偏要自欺欺人的行为。
