从前，有个秀才去参加考试。他平时不爱学习，只会说些华丽空洞的大话。考试时，他洋洋洒洒写了一篇文章，却全是些空话连篇，没有一句切中要害。主考官一看，不禁摇头叹息，说道："这篇文章空话连篇，毫无价值，简直是浪费时间!"秀才落榜后，才后悔自己平时不努力学习，只会说空话，于是他痛改前非，发奋苦读，终于金榜题名。
Once upon a time, there was a scholar who went to take an exam. He usually didn't like to study and only knew how to speak flowery and empty big words. During the exam, he wrote a long article, but it was all empty words and didn't hit the mark. When the examiner saw it, he couldn't help but shake his head and sigh, saying: "This article is full of empty words and worthless, a complete waste of time!" After the scholar failed the exam, he regretted not studying hard, only knowing how to speak empty words, so he changed his ways, studied hard, and finally passed the exam with flying colors.
