Origin Story
In the Three Kingdoms period, Zhao Yun, a great general of Shu Han, rescued his lord on the Changban Slope with a single ride, killing countless enemies and showing great bravery. He charged into battle, like a pawn that had crossed the river, moving forward and unstoppable. Facing the Cao army's tidal waves of attacks, Zhao Yun did not retreat at all. He fought bravely against a hundred enemies, eventually successfully saving A Dou from danger. Since then, "a pawn that crossed the river" has been used to describe those who bravely move forward, fearless of difficulties, and ultimately succeed.
