Origin Story
During the Tang Dynasty, there was a poet named Li Bai who particularly enjoyed composing poems and verses with fellow literati at taverns. Once, at an inn in Chang'an, Li Bai gathered with several friends, and one friend was reciting a poem. A line in the poem was: "When will the bright moon appear? I raise my glass and ask the blue heaven." At this time, a man who called himself a poet also started reciting this line, but his tone and expression seemed rather stiff and affected, mimicking Li Bai's style. Li Bai simply smiled slightly and said nothing. After a few rounds of drinks, Li Bai began to recite his newly composed poem, and everyone listened attentively. In his poem, Li Bai described the magnificent scene he had seen by the Yellow River, filled with ambition and pride. Upon completing his poem, everyone praised it profusely. However, the man who had imitated Li Bai still lacked his own works, merely echoing and praising Li Bai's creation. Those present were unimpressed, considering him to be unoriginal and lacking genuine literary talent.
