秦始皇驾崩后，赵高与李斯合谋，矫诏杀害了太子扶苏，拥立胡亥为帝。赵高专权，滥施酷刑，朝中人人自危，大臣们个个担心自己哪天会成为下一个牺牲品。甚至连皇亲国戚都未能幸免，整个朝堂笼罩在一片恐怖的阴影之下，就连平日里那些高高在上的权贵们都寝食难安，生怕下一个被赵高盯上的就是自己。一时间，整个朝廷人心惶惶，人人自危，朝政混乱不堪。就连那些看似位高权重的官员，也每天都提心吊胆，害怕自己会被牵连，被赵高陷害。这种恐怖的气氛一直持续到秦朝灭亡。
After the death of Qin Shi Huang, Zhao Gao and Li Si conspired to kill the crown prince Fusu and enthroned Hu Hai as emperor. Zhao Gao, in power, abused his power and implemented cruel punishments. Even the royal family was not spared, the entire court was shrouded in a shadow of terror. Even the powerful nobles who were usually high-ranking were unable to sleep peacefully, afraid that they would be the next target of Zhao Gao. For a while, the entire court was in panic and fear, and the political situation was chaotic. Even those seemingly powerful officials were living in fear every day, afraid that they would be implicated and framed by Zhao Gao. This atmosphere of terror lasted until the Qin Dynasty was overthrown.
