Origin Story
During the Warring States period, Duke Jinggong of Qi was wearing a warm fox fur robe and admiring the snowy scenery from the window. He thought the scenery was beautiful and happily told Yanzi that the weather was mild. Yanzi said directly: “In ancient times, wise monarchs, when they themselves were full, also thought about others who were hungry. When they themselves were warmly clothed, they also thought about others who were freezing. They always put themselves in the shoes of others, and so their country could flourish.” Duke Jinggong was deeply moved by Yanzi’s words. From that day on, he cared even more about the suffering of the people, ruled diligently, and loved his people. Finally, Qi became one of the most powerful states in the Warring States period.
